Experience the great Ogoh-Ogoh-Statues on the Ngrupuk parade in Singaraja which takes place on the eve of Nyepi. This is the New Years Day of Bali. The parade will start in the afternoon on Friday, 4th of March 2011. A nice place to watch would be Jalan A. Yani or Jalan Diponegoro next to the big market of Singaraja. A very famous spot for another Ngrupuk parade is Kalibukbuk (Central Lovina). You can watch Ogoh-Ogoh-parades in nearly every village of Bali as well.
A very special event of this evening takes place in Tukadmungga. It is called Gebeg Gebegan Sampi. There they slaughter a cow and lay the skin with the head with ceremonial honours on the road. Afterwards some teams fight by pulling for the head and skin of the cow. The winner-team will get the meat of the cow.
